Muhammad Ali's 72nd Birthday

Postby KeungKau » Fri Jan 17, 2014 12:49 am

Muhammad Ali is 72 today

The Louville Lip is still
The Greatest Of All Time his charisma and heart has endeared him to millions all over the world

Whats your favourite Ali fights?

For me I reckon
Cassius Clay Vs Sonny liston the first fight between them was his

And he looked fantastic against cleveland Williams

(Although Cleveland'Big Cat'Williams had been recovering from gunshot wounds)

His Three Joe Frazier fights?

In his latter years did he deserve to win his controversial fight against Ken Norton in 1976

His comeback to beat Leon Spinks in 1977 to become World Heavyweight Champion 3 times?

One of my favourite quotes from Ali was after he won an olympic gold medal in Rome in 1960 and was refused service in a cafeteria in his hometown.

"We don't serve negroes"
"Thats Okay I dont eat em
Just give me a cup of coffee and a hamburger"

If you are an Ali fan there are a couple of good documentaries out there

Facing Ali

Muhammad & Larry

and also a book he published called Soul of a butterfly is worth a read.

Wishing Ali a happy birthday and good health :)

This man is a one in a billion talent that will never be seen again in our lifetime. Historical hero in the ring of boxing. May he enjoy many more birthdays.
