Fist Of Fury 3

Postby pollypolly » Mon Sep 11, 2006 10:56 pm

I've just checked out Fist Of Fury 3 in an English Dubbed Widescreen print (and also posted my thoughts on the film in the review section) .
I was wondering how this compares to other prints in circulation?
This print I have appears to be taken from a German source and contrast is quite dark - I have my suspicions that it is cut. Does anyone have an uncut running time for this film?
The version I have runs for 1h 30mins 12secs.
Scenes I suspect are cut are the death of the interpreter and the death of a thug in the previous teahouse scene where Bruce sticks his finger in a guys chest, when he falls to the floor you can see two finger marks in his neck too but you never saw him get struck there.

Any help much appreciated!

Well Pete, If the version I have turns out to be cut I at least have the English Dub track if you wanted to work some magic on the FLK print mate?

Cheers for the info Whirkwind - i wouldnt mind seeing that Firefly release to compare scenes...

The English dub is available for only 4.99 from the Play.com site. I haven't checked it out yet.

If anyone does get a chance to check the 'Avenging Fury' print (e.g the one that's on Play.com) please let us know what the state of the print is like. That'd be great - and thanks for everyones help.

That print looks a lot brighter than the German (and French?) widescreen print. I'd be interested to know how complete your version is mate. I'd sacrifice a cut widescreen print for a full screen uncut print any day!

The end of the film is especially dark:

Though the rest of the film isn't too bad:

Cheers for posting your screen grabs Whirlwind.

A comparison between the UK 'Avenging Fury' print and those suspected cut scenes that I posted could be the key to this little puzzler.

***SPOILER!***
(I reckon the death of Ku Feng is probably cut too...)

Cheers for checking this out Whirlwind. It's all a little clearer now, as what you describe is exactly the same content wise as the new Widescreen DVD thats under scrutiny.
The very slight difference in running times could be down to different intro & end credits length?.

So it appears then that every version that has been mentioned in this thread is possibly cut. They certainly all seem to be similar content-wise. As you say Whirlwind, Paul Wei's sudden death is the most suspect. One can only hope that if another member on this forum does have a fuller version to what's described here then if they could kindly confirm that one does exist that would be of great help! Thanks for contributing those screen shots Whirlwind.

It looks like there are different opening credits as this is my very first frame - Bruce practising on a wooden dummy:

This is how my title card looks:

...Then after that, it cuts to the train and then the view out of the window that you mentioned.

This may add a little more confusion into the mix too...but unless I wasnt paying attention, I dont actually remember seeing San Kuai die in my print...I should maybe check it again...
