Capoeira

Postby PoleFighter » Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:05 pm

Anyone else a fan of capoeira or even practices it? I became fascinated with it ever since I saw the 1993 film \'Only the Strong\' with Mark Dacascos.

It\'s really mesmerising to watch and some of the moves seem to defy gravity!

It\'s a shame there aren\'t more films based on it. There is an awesome sequence in \'Tom Yum Goong\' with Lateef Crowder...

...and here he is in \'Undisputed 3\'...

There is a 2009 capoeira film called \'Besouro\', but I\'ve heard it isn\'t very good - has anyone seen it?

No offence Pete - it\'s interesting to hear the opinions of it from an actual martial arts practitioner. As a non-practitioner myself I\'m only looking at it from a visual perspective and for entertainment purposes.

The origin of capoeira is dance so I have no doubt that in a real life fight it wouldn\'t stand a chance - I guess that\'s why the capoeira fighter always loses in these movies, Lol!

Great vids by the way.
