I've been meaning to watch this since Peringaten praised it up so much a year or two ago... still haven't got around to it though, I'll definately give it a go in the next week or so!

Yeah I thought that Pete, but don't forget I love Ashes of Time so I should like this!!! I'll report back when I've seen it.

Here's Peringaten's excellent review, anyone who might be interested in the film should check it out.

Well I popped it into my DVD player last night only to discover my disc is........raw.
;*O
Looks like I'll have to wait until I can get hold of a decent copy, it looked very atmospheric from the 10 minutes I watched though.

I managed to buy a nice dvd of this in China for about 50p so I watched it last night.

Superb film, it wasn't quite as dark as I was expecting but it's very atmospheric with an engaging story. I knew that there was going to be very little swordplay, so I wasn't too disappointed about the action, but imagine the film it could have been with some decent fighting!

I'm sure this film must have had an influence on Ashes of Time and Tsui Hark's Blade.

It reminded me of a spaghetti western, only minus the OTT violence one would associate with such films. I think it's good, story and acting are quite engaging, and it never out stays its welcome. As long as you're not expecting lots of sword fights, you should enjoy it.
