I've finally sussed out the true essence of Kung Fu films! It goes something like this... The universe is designed as a black hole factory based on the code gravity, geometry, the Fibonacci sequence, pi and many other important mathematical constants/concepts, but most importantly, the universe is a...

Shapes and the Commoners

Why is traditional Kung Fu choreography, i.e. shapes, so alien to the general public, i.e. to the Blockheads? Firstly, all the classics were made prior to 1984, so there is generally a lack of exposure to the newer generations, but it was also quite specialised to older generations. If a commonner i...

The UK Kung Fu scene in the late 80s/early 90s?

I was hoping Pete Snr./Jnr. and other diamond geezers from the UK would be able to fill in some gaps in my knowledge of the UK scene--specifically late 80s to early 90s? *What was it like at the Scala, King's Cross? Who used to turn up and what activities used to take place besides the showing of mo...

Would you happen to have a link to that ad? I only saw Sleeping Dragon in Cinemart with Kung Fu 10th Dan; you've seen that ad? I wasn't sure if that movie was ever released, but seems it was. Actually, come to think of it now I'm sure I've got the trailer for it. My mate Andy, the Arsenal fan, knows...

There were definitely "hot spots" in places like Brixton and other suburbs of London. I think Liecester Square may not have had regular showings outside the private clubs in Chinatown, etc. As a whole country, I think you had to be at the right place at the right time--perhaps with the right mate?

I don't think the audience even got to see Kung properly. During the 70s, you could only see them in the UK in private clubs besides late night events, but not many people seemed to go. I can ask 1-2 generations back, but 99% haven't got a clue what Kung Fu is. They may have got tired of Bruce Lee, ...

Jay, you do or don't agree? I have noticed that some people seem to be under the misconception that Jackie and Samo has some kind of ballet box where fans could request what kind of movie they want to see next. It doesn't work like that. Not many people have ever watched Kung Fu movies even during t...
